How I was ” inspired” to build myself something ergonomic, but save myself some money as well (#elbowgrease).
I started with dimensional oak boards from the hardware store. As they were way to narrow, glued them side-by-side using a nifty selection of spare beams. I then used my jigsaw table to cut the angled sides in relatively neatly. To get them neat I used my router with a straight edge.
The support plank was made from another part of the two glued together boards (that grain pattern is just love). Using my forstner bit and drill, I first drilled two holes in either end of the slot, then connected those using the jig saw table.
I repeated the same process, including rounding over using the router (love that thing). I ended up having to sand down some of the burnt areas. This was my first time with the round over bit. Hopefully practice makes perfect.
The shelves for the laptop and keyboard were also made by glueing boards side by side. Round over bit put in work.
And then I hit it all with beeswax. I just love the feel of it. The sheen shares that first place.
